Are these blobs sort of an abstract, see-what-you-come-up-with idea? I think I may get my daughter have a go… she’s always liked that game whet one person draws a few lines and the other finishes off the pic.. And your ideas are truly fresh and outrageous. :-)

Yes, Brian. That’s the idea. It’s a bit like Mr Squiggle (remember him?) only with blobs instead of lines. I find the fuzzy mass much more evocative than definite lines and mostly something suggests itself very clearly in the shape. Kids are great at it. It’s like finding animals in the clouds, only you get to keep them afterwards :-) What I’ve found since playing with it, is that the rough watercolour paper helps by making the edges of the blobs more wobbly, and hence more imaginative options. I’m sure Ricki would love it, and so would you. Have fun. (My skunk didn’t work on the last shed though!)

Another fun one that Alexis Deacon also suggested (look up his blog) is a continuous comic book idea, where each person draws a frame and progresses the story. Ricki might also enjoy doing this with you.

Thanks Judy..These are fantastic ideas.. I love the parallel you draw of making pictures with clouds but getting to keep them.. so dreamesque if that’s a word.. sounds like fun. Cheers.
